Bellaluna is born

If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it, anything you want to, do it....
These are the words in my head and heart this morning. You may recognize these words from the movie "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory".
I, quite by accident, watched it and the new version, a total of three times in the weeks I spent while creating Bellaluna, and the words seem to have come to fruition with my little bat. I thought her up as a wild idea to celebrate my tatting name, and she has come to life just as the song goes..anything you want to... do it.
I finished her last night, while watching that movie about a candy maker. So, she has a sweeter feel to her in my mind.
I am so pleased with the way she turned out. I have no idea how many beads I used in her wings, I will try to get an estimate later. (edited.. she has well over 1300 beads!) She is a little over 18" in wingspan, and 10" head to toe. I haven't selected the branch I will hang her from yet, as her display... I have to find just the right one.
I hope she does well in the fair, but even if she doesn't, I'll love her all the same.

Fabulous! And when is the fair? I know it's before ours but never sure of the date. I'm guessing either the weekend of the 10th or 17th.

Thanks so much Sherry! She is so cute in person, too!

Gina, Thanks! The fair is the week of July 10 thru 17. The building opens up Sunday after 1pm July 11, and you can bet I will be there then!!

Blimey, this bat is sublime! Super-duper and a nocturnal notch above the rest! Please do post all the details of Bellaluna's adventure at the fair. Here's hoping you will be adding a gold crown to her head for being the reigning queen of her category.

Bellaluna is so bat-tractive!

I am just speechless and everything has been said. You've outdone yourself, my dear girl! Even if others (in the way future) do this pattern; none of them will look like Bella....

She is the stuff of which fairy-stories are made and she looks like a friendly bat; not the frightening sort from horror movies. Bela looks like she could fly about Willie Wonka's Chocolate factory....checking out the licorice. :<)

kisses to Bellaluna

I just don't have anything to say that hasn't already been said. Good luck at the fair!

Wow! The enlarged picture is amazing. I can only imagine how awe-inspiring she must be up close. When someone comments that surely tatting is only doilies and edgings, I'm really going to enjoy sending them to your blog!

This is outstanding! You must keep us all posted. Stellar tatting! Congrats.

Thank you for your great comments and compliments.
Bev, she is very friendly and I will give her a little kiss for you!
Eliz, I would welcome visitors to show that more can be done besides doilies. That is why I am entering her in the tatting category instead of the crafts, or Seasonal, or toy.
